# Surprisingly high nitrous oxide emissions from temporary flooded depressions within croplands - Data Repository This repository contains geospatial data related to the study titled **"Surprisingly high nitrous oxide emissions from temporary flooded depressions within croplands"** conducted by Bo Elberling et al. The data was utilized in the estimation of N2O (nitrous oxide) emission fluxes from temporary flooded depressions within croplands in Zealand, Denmark. ## Directory Structure ``` +-- DATA | +-- Field observations | | +-- Field data and N2O budget.xlsx | +-- Incubation | | +-- Calculated_fluxes | | | +-- Bottle_fluxes.csv | | | +-- Combined_fluxes | | +-- Incubation_data.xlsx | | +-- Incubation_scripts.pdf | | +-- Raw_data_files_incubation.zip | +-- Mapping | | +-- field_boundaries.cpg | | +-- field_boundaries.dbf | | +-- field_boundaries.fix | | +-- field_boundaries.prj | | +-- field_boundaries.shp | | +-- field_boundaries.shx | | +-- Results | | | +-- flooded_depressions.dbf | | | +-- flooded_depressions.prj | | | +-- flooded_depressions.shp | | | +-- flooded_depressions.shx | | +-- Training | | | +-- assigned_target_features.gpkg | | | +-- image_df.gpkg | | | +-- labeled_areas.gpkg +-- README.txt ``` ## Data Categories ### 1. `Field observations` This directory contains field observations related to the study. It includes the following dataset: - `Field data and N2O budget.xlsx`: This dataset contains field data and the N2O budget related to the study's observations. ### 2. `Incubation` This directory contains data related to incubation experiments conducted during the study. It includes the following datasets and files: - `Calculated_fluxes`: This subdirectory contains calculated fluxes data, including the following files: - `Bottle_fluxes.csv`: CSV file containing bottle fluxes data. - `Combined_fluxes`: This dataset contains combined fluxes data. - `Incubation_data.xlsx`: This dataset contains data collected during the incubation experiments. - `Incubation_scripts.pdf`: PDF document detailing the scripts used during incubation experiments. - `Raw_data_files_incubation.zip`: Zip archive containing raw data files used in the incubation experiments. ### 3. `Mapping` This directory contains geospatial data related to the mapped flooded depressions in Zealand, Denmark. It includes the following datasets and files: These field boundaries are provided as a polygon shapefile sourced from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark (LBST). The boundaries were used to mask out natural wetland areas and estimate the percentage coverage of flooded fields affecting croplands in Zealand. The following files are included: - `field_boundaries.cpg` - `field_boundaries.dbf` - `field_boundaries.fix` - `field_boundaries.prj` - `field_boundaries.shp` - `field_boundaries.shx` - `Results`: This subdirectory contains the results of the mapping process, specifically the data related to the flooded depressions in Zealand. It includes the following files: - `flooded_depressions.dbf` - `flooded_depressions.prj` - `flooded_depressions.shp` - `flooded_depressions.shx` - `Training`: This subdirectory contains datasets used during the training process for model development. It includes the following files: - `assigned_target_features.gpkg`: Dataset containing assigned target features used during the training process. - `image_df.gpkg`: Dataset containing processed image area outlines used during the training process. - `labeled_areas.gpkg`: Dataset containing labeled areas used during the training process. ## Usage Researchers and analysts can utilize these datasets for further analysis, model development, and other related research.
