COREv2.0 ======== RAW DATA STREAMS: 1) NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis (v1), 6-hourly on T62 grid: a. dn10 (10m air density, kg/m^3) b. q_10 (10m specific humidity, kg/kg) c. slp_ (0m sea level pressure, Pa) d. t_10 (10m air temperature, Kelvin) e. u_10 (10m U wind, m/s) f. v_10 (10m V wind, m/s) 2) GCGCS precipitation, monthly on T62 grid: (blend of GPCP, CMAP, and Serreze products, see tech note) a. prec (precipitation, mm/day) 3) GISS, ISCCP-FD radiation, daily on T62 grid: a. swdn (downwelling shortwave flux, W/m^2) a. swup (upwelling shortwave flux, W/m^2) a. lwdn (downwelling longwave flux, W/m^2) LARGE AND YEAGER CORRECTIONS: At NCAR: the corrections are applied to the uncorrected data sets during the integration of an ocean-ice model. NCAR uses the file in datm_physTN460.F90 using correction factors in tn460nyf.correction_factors.T62.121007.nc At GFDL: experiments are forced with the corrected datasets. 1) correction to NCEP wind magnitude and direction based on 2000-2004 QSCAT observations. 2) monthly correction to NCEP Arctic t_10 based on Sheba measurements. 3) seasonal floor set on NCEP Antarctic t_10 based on station observations (F. Bryan). 4) correction to NCEP specific humidity based on SOC climatology 5) satellite-based precipitation enhanced by ~14% 6) swnet computed using latitude-dependent climatological albedo 7) shortwave fluxes reduced by 5% between 50S and 30N 8) Arctic longwave radiation reduced by constant offset (north of 60N)
